Maiden edition of national level Shivaji Triathlon was conducted at INS Shivaji, Lonavla on 12 February 23. The event was designed to test Physical Endurance and Mental Resilience of athletes and comprised one km open lake swimming, 30 km cycling and 10 km running amidst the roads and trails of Sahyadri mountain ranges. The event was categorised in individual as well as relay categories and saw participation of 348 athletes from services, professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts from civilian community. Havaldar Rahul Shinde from Indian Army and Ms Riddhi Kadam were adjudged as winners in most competitive individual male and female category respectively. The team of Bombay Sappers from Indian Army won the event in relay category. The award for most spirited athletes were awarded to nine year old Ms Urvi and 68 year old Mr Ashutosh Roy, the youngest and eldest participants of competition. The event was presided over by Commodore Mohit Goel, Commanding Officer INS Shivaji.
