The aim of Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan campaign is to increase public awareness about accumulation and subsequent impact of garbage along the coastlines/ beaches. The Coastal Cleanup drive was conducted at Pudumadam Beach near Rameshwaram, Kalpakkam Beach, Adyar Beach and Kollumedu lake near Chennai and Uvari Beach near Tirunelveli on 18 February 2023. Over 300 Naval personnel participated in event with full enthusiasm towards making our beaches and coastal areas a better place for marine life and providing a clean environment. Approx. 250 Kg of non-biodegradable waste material including plastic bottles, wrappers, thermocol, glass pieces etc, were collected during cleanup drives.
