Consequent to breakout of a massive fire at Brahamapuram Waste Plant at Kochi, a request for assistance was sought by local district authorities from SNC. Naval fire-fighting services were immediately pressed into action on 03 March 2023. Naval fire tenders were deployed at the site to augument efforts of local administration. An aerial recce by naval helicopter was undertaken to assess extent of fire. Additional firefighting teams and resources have been activated to augument efforts of district administration. Continuing with the rescue efforts, aerial fire-fighting was undertaken on 04 March 2023. Naval ALH of INS Garuda was deployed with Large Area Aerial Liquid Dispersion Equipment LAALDE to drop water buckets on affected areas. More than 5000 litres of water have been sprayed in the active fire zones. All efforts are in progress with local agencies and authorities to control spread of fire.
