A Seaking helicopter of Indian Navy was launched from INS Shikra at about 0900 h on 15 Jul 2023 for medical evacuation Medevac of a Filipino citizen suffering acute appendicitis aboard MV Saipem Endeavour, 55 nautical miles SW of Mumbai. The MEDEVAC was effectively coordinated by both IN and ICG wherein despite limitations of visibility, rough seas and a low cloud base, the helicopter landed onboard the ship and evacuated the patient. ICGS Samrat present on scene also provided necessary support and assistance. The patient was successfully transferred to INHS Asvini for further treatment.
