INS Khanjar, on deployment in Bay of Bengal, detected three Indian Fishing Vessels adrift in rough seas, approximately 130 NM off the coast of Tamil Nadu on 27 July 2023. The Fishing Vessels Sabarainathan, Kalaivani and V Sami, belonging to Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu with 36 fishermen onboard were stranded at sea for over two days due to prevalent weather conditions without fuel, provisions and engine breakdown. The ship post providing Fishing Vessels with necessary provisions, towed them for more than 30 hours, ensuring their safe return to Chennai harbor on 28 July 2023.
