Maiden batch of 261 Agniveers comprising 20 women trainees successfully completed 16 weeks of rigorous training at INS Shivaji on 19 Aug 2023. The batch included 10 trainees from Indian Coast Guard and six trainees from friendly foreign countries. During this professional training, the trainees were taken through organised curriculum of academics, sports, parade and extra-curricular activities. They were provided with classroom and practical training on various engineering equipment, Fire fighting and damage control, small arms handling and firing. Awards were presented to meritorious Agniveers, which included Himanshu Banga, AVR (ME), for first in order of merit, Gursewak Singh, AVR (ME) for best all-rounder (men) and Asmita K Chavan, AVR (ME) for best all-rounder (women). The course completion ceremony also saw interaction of Agniveers with Smt Tejaswi Satpute, IPS, DCP HQ II, Mumbai Police who motivated them on their future endeavours.
