Indian Navy celebrates 04 Dec every year as Navy Day to commemorate successful attack on Karachi harbour by Indian Navy ships during 1971Indo Pak War. SNC celebrated Navy Day 2023 with citizens of Kochi in an enthralling Operational Demonstration on 04 Dec 2023. There was a spectacular display of entire spectrum of Naval operations by ships, aircraft and special forces of Indian Navy. Op Demo was hosted by VAdm MA Hampiholi, FOCINC SNC with Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, Hon'ble Governor of Kerala as Chief Guest. The event was witnessed by senior Govt functionaries, military dignitaries and local populace of Kochi off Rajendra Maidan. The Op Demo commenced with a combat beach reconnaissance and assault demo by MARCOS and a flypast by Naval aircraft including Dornier, ALH and Chetak. Simulated Gun salutes, Helicopter landing, SAR Operations by Chetak, VBSS Demo, slithering operations, mock oil rig demolition, aerial extraction of commandos and watermanship display were some of the major highlights. STS INS Sudarshini displayed its splendour by unfurling her magnificent sails and manning of masts. Horn pipe dance by SCC and Continuity Drill by Naval personnel undertaking 120 sequenced drills without any verbal command in a synchronised manner enthralled the spectators. Capability demonstration by advanced multi role helicopter MH60R, the new induction in the Navy and precise manoeuvres by FICs were other attractions. The event culminated with a beating retreat by Indian Naval band and traditional sunset ceremony with illumination of Naval ships .
